Is Your Lovable App Secure? The 8-Point Pre-Launch Check

Quick answer

A Lovable app is as secure as its Supabase policies, key handling, and deployment config — the things the builder optimizes for speed, not safety. Run 8 checks before launch: RLS on every table, no service_role key in the client, no leaked keys in the repo, scoped CORS, auth redirects on an allowlist, env vars server-side, function auth verified, and an admin-protected dashboard.

Why 'it works' isn't a security check

Lovable (like Bolt, v0, and Replit) is built to get you from idea to working app fast. Security is a different axis: the app can work perfectly for you and still be wide open to a stranger with the anon key. The failure modes are consistent enough to checklist — here are the 8 we check on every scan.

The 8 checks

Run these before your first real user:

  • 1. RLS enabled and scoped on every Supabase table — no using(true) policies on private data.
  • 2. No service_role key anywhere client-side — VITE_ vars, hardcoded strings, or .env committed.
  • 3. No live API keys in the repo or the built bundle.
  • 4. CORS scoped to your domain — Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * on an authenticated API is a data leak.
  • 5. Auth redirect URLs allowlisted in Supabase — an open redirect config lets attackers intercept recovery links.
  • 6. Env vars server-side only; anything the browser can read, attackers can read.
  • 7. Edge/server functions verify the JWT and check the caller's role — not just that a request arrived.
  • 8. Admin/dashboard routes gated by server-side role checks, not just a hidden link.

How long does this take manually?

An experienced engineer familiar with Supabase needs 2-4 hours for a small app. The bottleneck is not knowledge — it's remembering every surface and re-checking after every feature ships. That's why checks drift: you pass all 8 at launch, then a sprint later a new table ships with RLS off.

The automated path

StackShield was built for exactly this list. Connect Supabase, GitHub, and Vercel, and a scan runs all 8 checks in minutes, ranks findings by severity, and drafts the fix for each — you approve what gets applied. Scheduled rescans catch the drift that a one-time checklist can't.

The free plan runs the full 8-point check with no credit card. Connect your project and see what a scan finds before your users do.
